About
Letter writing for gender-affirming care enables access to essential medical interventions like hormone therapy or surgeries. This process validates gender identities, provides legal documentation for gender marker changes, and improves mental health outcomes. It ensures transgender and gender-diverse individuals receive affirming healthcare. I was trained and continue to value the importance of offering a signed letter at the end of the first session as often possible to reduce systematic gatekeeping and policing of non-confirming bodies.
